 What isa day?

There are many ways to answer that question.

A day is 24 hours. A day is how we measure how much time we spend at work. A day can be something we look forward to, a celebration of some kind.
To most people, June 11 is Just One Day. But, June 11 is a day that will change everything for about 10,000 companion animals, and a day that can change the world. On June 11, 2013, we can be a No Kill nation.

We are Joining forces with shelters across the USA to take a pledge not to kill any savable animals on June 11, 2014. For Just One Day, "Euthanasia Technicians" will put down their syringes and pick up cameras. They will photograph them and post them on the Internet, on Facebook, on twitter. On June 11, 2014, We will market our animals to the public, We will reach out further to rescue groups, We will host adoption events with discounted rates of $30. We are extending our adoption hours till 7:00 pm and ask our community to help us empty the shelter.
Let's make June 11th a day to remember by working together. If you haven't liked our facebook page please do here and give us a thumbs up. Also find us on twitter @ . We will need your help on June the 11th to ensure success.
We will be broadcasting the success of Just One Day Initiative all day long Wednesday June 11th so please keep an eye out and help us share in our success.

If you have a few hours and can volunteer any part of Tuesday please let us know via email [email protected]

Hi Everyone,

I know several of you have not heard from us in quite some time now because we haven't been doing much via email. I hope to change that and have an online newsletter when I can do so.

Some of you may not know that we lost our beloved tiger, Delilah, on January 14th to squamous cell carcinoma. We were heartbroken about this. We take comfort in knowing we gave her 12 great years of love and care.

For our local people you understand our drought situation for the past four years. For those who were not aware of it the past four years have been very hot and very dry. As a result it has made the dirt in our big cat habitats hard and grass and plants do not grow. We have been working on putting new dirt in the cat pens and some is already starting to show grass growth. We have a lot more to put in the habitat for the three lions. That has shown the worst wear and tear. We've purchased 8 loads of dirt at a total cost of $1800.

We recently put metal carports in the three large habitats at a total cost of $2000. It was a good choice because it provides long term shade versus the material we have used in the past and keep having to replace. Now we need to replace the den houses made of wood with cinder block houses. The weather has wreaked havoc on the old ones. They are dry, brittle, and some now have termites. The new cinder block houses will not be impacted by any of this and will be long lasting.

The current fundraiser we are doing is to build 5 new, cinder block houses. Surprisingly cinder blocks are not that expensive, but still something we need help with, and I am retired Air Force and can purchase them at Lowes or Home Depot with a 10% military discount. That helps a great deal. Our current cost for building these den houses is $600 for a total of $3000. We could really use our fans help with this newest project. Our coffers are a little low now after getting the dirt and carports so we wanted to reach out to our friends for your help.
If you want to sponsor a house at $600 that would be wonderful. We'd also let you name the house. That's always fun to see what people come up with.

An example of what good stewards we are with our money I will tell you this. Yogie and Friends has NO DEBT! That is not an easy endeavor, but one we strive to ensure we don't have. We have the typical operating costs such as electric, water, phone, insurance (truck and liability, which is our largest expense) and diesel fuel. Vet care is also a large expense when it is needed and that has been needed a lot lately due to our geriatric population. So you can see why your help is needed. We hope you can help us with this. You can donate in several ways. You can mail a check or money order or go to our website and donate on-line via one of the ways we have linked on our page.

If you are on Facebook and aren't already liked on our page, then please do so. You will see the most current information, photos, videos, and news as it becomes available. We try and post about domestic animal issues as well.

Please help us with raising the $3000 or more as soon as possible.

We appreciate all the help people have shown over the years. We thank you in advance for any support in this endeavor.

For the cats!

P.S. This will also let me know what e-mail addresses are still good as well so I can update our contact list.

LA (New Orleans) The Drew Pet Foundation Fundraiser "tapping" Party 4/16
·Gordon Biersch Brewery - 220 Poydras - Wed 4/16 – 5:30-7:30p
Contact: Sue Sampey [email protected]
We help senior citizens keep their pets by assisting with vet bills & food. We are local & a 501c3. I use to be president of paws for many years. I'm not the girl they caught stealing though. Anyway after I left paws I decided to start my own foundation in memory of my dog that was treated terribly at another shelter. Check out our website & fb page.

If you would like any more info on this event or the foundation contact Sue Sampey [email protected] Director of The Drew Pet Foundation Fundraiser
Hello all! We have been offered a great opportunity to raise money for the Drew Pet Foundation. Gordon Biersch Brewery will hold a "tapping" party for us on Wednesday, April 16th from 5:30 to 7:30. Gordon Biersch hosts the tapping parties to honor their newest seasonal beer. This upcoming party, the beer will be the popular Maibock that they brew annually. $1.00 from every beer sold during that time (5:30-7:30) will be donated to The Drew Pet Foundation. They also provide a small complimentary buffet for the guests and also a DJ to keep everyone entertained. The address is 200 Poydras St. Please come out and support us. Beer, Food, helping a charity and can you go wrong? This will be a great time. Thank you to Gordon Biersch for supporting our foundation! Please share with all your friends!
